Night Supervision
Night supervision provides overnight assistance and supervision by an awake or asleep staff in the person’s own home when there is an assessed need.
Eligibility:
A person must:
- Live in their own home
- Have an assessed need for overnight support in at least one of the following areas:
- Implementation of positive support programming or transition plans
- Reinforcement of skill development supports (e.g., individualized home supports)
- Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Assistance with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)

Covered Services:
- Overnight support delivered by an awake or asleep staff in the person’s home, directly related to the assessed need in the areas listed above
Non-Covered Services:
Night supervision cannot be used:
- To prevent an outcome that has not previously occurred (i.e., for preventative safety)
- Based on an assumption that the person might need it, without a documented assessed need
- When there is no overnight need for the covered service areas
- For a person who sleeps through the night or wakes up but does not need assistance or supervision
- To pay for time when the person’s caregiver (e.g., parent, legally responsible individual, or staff) is asleep and lives in the home
- If it duplicates other Minnesota state plan or waiver services the person already receives
