Personal Care Assistance (PCA)

Position Overview

As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), you will provide hands-on personal care and support to individuals living independently in the community. Services are delivered according to an established care plan and are focused on maintaining safety, dignity, and quality of life. Clients are medically stable and do not require acute medical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting

  • Support clients with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and medication reminders (as allowed)

  • Follow individualized care plans developed by the care team

  • Observe and report changes in client condition

  • Maintain client privacy, confidentiality, and safety at all times

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to provide required documentation
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

  • Ability to follow written care plans and verbal instructions

  • Reliable transportation to and from client locations

  • Ability to lift, bend, and assist with mobility as required by client needs

  • Previous caregiving experience preferred but not required (training provided)

Background Check Requirements

  • Must pass a Minnesota DHS Background Study prior to employment

  • Must remain eligible under DHS background study requirements throughout employment

  • Employment is contingent upon background study clearance

Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Position Overview

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide person-centered services to individuals receiving Minnesota 245D Home and Community-Based Services. This role focuses on supporting independence, daily living skills, health, safety, and community participation in accordance with individualized service plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and direct support in the home and community

  • Assist individuals with daily living and household management skills

  • Support health, safety, and well-being in accordance with service plans

  • Promote independence, self-advocacy, and community engagement

  • Accurately document services and report concerns to supervisors

  • Follow all 245D policies, procedures, and training requirements

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to provide required documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

  • Ability to follow service plans and agency policies

  • Reliable transportation as required for community-based services

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience in direct support or human services preferred but not required

Background Check Requirements

  • Must pass a Minnesota DHS 245D Background Study

  • Must meet ongoing DHS eligibility requirements

  • Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining background clearance
